Hello, church, 26th of January 2015

I think I disappointed someone today but I don’t believe I have a reason to be sorry. I will tell you what happened. I was shopping with my wife in one of those big supermarkets. We were at the meat and sausage counter and we asked to taste one of the sausages before buying it. One man took part in our conversation and said that he personally has tried this sausage and that it goes very well with rakia (traditional Bulgarian alcoholic drink). I responded that I hate rakia and that I never drink it and he was stunned. For a moment I had the feeling that I had sinned. I told him to relax – not everyone likes to eat and drink the same things. I am against the status quo that every Bulgarian should have this drink on their table. For those who like the drink – so be it, but I am not one of them.

The Bible tells us:

Библията казва; „But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds. „Matthew 11:16-20

I think that then and now people don’t really know what they want from life, but we are obligated to bear with each other. This way or the other…
