Hello, church, 12th August 2014

Mark 9:23 „And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.””

Those are words of Jesus that I would like for you to hear today. All things are possible! Oh yes, everything… but isn’t that too much? When we use the word “everything” we usually don’t mean what is about to happen, while Jesus knows exactly what is going to happen. That is the big difference between us.

The people brought a boy with a spirit that made him mute to Jesus and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. The boy’s father asked Jesus for help and this was His answer: Бащата на момчето поиска помощ от Исус и той му каза точно тези думи; „If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes”

Did Jesus see lack of faith in that man that was caused by the hardship and endless struggle with the disease of the boy? I think that as the people saw there was no cure for the boy they thought that it will remain a burden for him and for the whole family until it dies. Can time make faith grow weary? Oh yes, continuous burden and misfortune makes faith grow weary.

Jesus could have sent the demon away even without talking to the father of the boy neither did he need the father’s faith to make that happen but why did he then say “If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” The answer to that question is in the Bible:

Hebrews 11:6 „And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Of course – faith pleases God. In other words pleasing God means to abide His will. And what is His will?

1 John 5:14 „And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.”

Jesus said clearly “If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes” or in other words if you please God by abiding His will, anything will be possible. Amen! And the result is complete salvation and healing!

I believe that all this is possible for the one who has faith. Do you?
